PesaTech Accelerator is a fintech acceleration initiative crafted to aid Post-Revenue and growth-stage fintech startups in Tanzania. Its primary objective is to enhance fintechs' ability to attract investment through an Investor-Readiness Program (IRP) while serving as a conduit connecting startups, strategic partners, and investors.
Launched by UNCDF in Tanzania in 2022, PesaTech Accelerator is designed to support fintech startups with a suite of tailored services dedicated to propelling the growth of innovative fintech enterprises. The program is committed to empowering fintech entrepreneurs and fostering sustainable, impactful solutions for the community. We will support fintechs that solve digital challenges in payment, saving, lending, investing, insuarance and e-commerce. Start-ups will receive technical and business bespoke support intending to boost the quality of their venture.
In collaboration with Anza Entrepreneurs and NMB Bank, UNCDF is delighted to announce the introduction of PesaTech Cohort 2. This program, funded by the European Union and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, is scheduled to run from November 2 023 to September 2024. Specifically designed to support post-revenue stage fintech companies, the initiative aims to guide these businesses through various stages of growth, facilitating their scaling efforts and fostering a more significant impact.
The application window is open and the deadline for submitting your application is 31st January 2024.
UNCDF and Anza co-hosted the launch event for PesaTech Accelerator 2 at Delta Hotel in Dar es Salaam on November 24, 2023. The event drew attendance from investors, financial institutions, regulatory bodies, government representatives and industry professionals

Upon the conclusion of the application period, Anza and IPF will conduct thorough business and technical assessments for 20 shortlisted Fintechs, aiming to select 10-12 entities that will proceed to Performance Based Financing and acceleration.
Fintechs successfully passing the assessment stage (10-12 in total) will receive $5,000 each to address identified gaps. Those efficiently addressing and demonstrating positive outcomes stand the chance to unlock additional funding for subsequent milestone rounds.
Anza and IPF will conduct a three-month acceleration program focusing on both business and technical aspects. The program will include monthly four-day physical workshops in Dar es Salaam, followed by virtual sessions and mentorships. Logistics costs for the workshops will be covered.
Business will receive three months of post-program support customized to their specific needs. This support will address operational gaps, enhance investment decks, establish investment connections, provide mentorship, and foster partnerships aimed at accelerating the growth of your fintech venture.
In August 2024 we will have an exceptional networking event, expecting a minimum attendance of 100 investors and key stakeholders. The event will serve as a platform for deal-making and a marketplace, facilitating startups in establishing valuable strategic partnerships and connecting with potential investors.
